What have you written this week that you want to share? Family Joy Blog Linkup is back for another weekend of sharing and fun! We appreciate those of you who come back weekly and if you are new, then thanks for joining us! This weekend was an event I’ve been anticipating, the local “chicken swap”! I brought home 10 new chicks. Four are Cream Legbar to add to the ones I’ve hatched once they are a little bigger. The other six are Speckled Sussex.
I was disappointed that the day was rainy. Had it been nicer we would’ve possibly stayed longer. The poultry swap is held a couple times a year at a local farm and people come from hours away to sell their animals and other wares. I also purchased some goat’s milk lotion and my husband bought some jalapeno cheese to try. Other vendors had pigs, goats, rabbits, ducks, turkeys, and I even saw chinchillas. Some people had products they had knitted, while others sewed bags and aprons from feed bags. We picked up a business card from a local man who sells meat products like beef and pork.
And this year it was supposed to have “chicken bingo” where if the chicken pooped on your number you won I believe. 🙂 We had intended to let the kids play the bingo, but didn’t stay because of the rain. Andwith the chillier weather we also worried that the chicks were purchased were getting chilled. But the kids did at least get to enjoy a pony ride. And I got some more chickens.
