I’m hearing sounds of  people saying their school year is winding down. For my husband, school is finally over. He’s been in college pretty much constantly since August 2010, except for the summer after he graduated nursing school. It’s been a long haul, but he persevered and finished, and has completed his BSN. As of now there aren’t any plans for more schooling,  although it hasn’t been ruled out. It could be a future possiblity someday, to go on for more. Don’t worry though, he already has started on the…

Chicken & Bacon Pressure Cooker Green Beans

Chicken & Bacon Pressure Cooker Green Beans

Once of the things I’ve looked forward to trying in my instant pot is fresh green beans from our garden this summer.  While we do have green beans planted, they aren’t nearly at the stage of giving us actual produce. Anyone who has raised green beans knows how delicious fresh ones can be. In our family, and others as well I’m sure, tossing in some onion and bacon ups that delicious factor. However, one thing to note about cooking fresh green beans. It can take a while to cook them, unlike…

Decreasing Our Clutter With A Pallet Shoe Rack

Decreasing Our Clutter With A Pallet Shoe Rack

Do you get sick of the way your laundry or mudroom looks with not enough shoe storage? As we’ve added another child, and people accumulated more boots and shoes, it bothered me how cluttered our laundry room looked. But finally my husband was able to complete a pallet shoe rack idea that I had discovered on Pinterest sometime ago. Our DIY pallet shoe rack was based off this picture on a pin from Craftriver.com. But the actual article that the pin links to does not have any further directions for…

It’s been rainy here lately, which is good for the gardens I reckon, but it might be making the weeds to grow too! A kind co-worker brought me newspaper again this week for my garden weed prevention like I wrote about in Spend Less Time Weeding Your Garden. However, we have not implemented using it yet this year. What do you do to get rid of weeds in your garden? My kiddos started another swim class session. Both of them got to advance a level. We don’t do a ton…

Our Painted Lady Butterflies Appearance

Our Painted Lady Butterflies Appearance

Remember last week, I talked about our experience with our caterpillars turning into chrysalis? Well guess what? The very next morning  when I checked on the chrysalis, 3 completely dry painted lady butterflies had made their appearance! I thought perhaps we had missed the emerging, by not checking on them sooner in the morning. (Ok so I may have went back to bed after putting my child on the schoolbus.) But it’s also possible our butterflies were feeling nocturnal and came out of their chrysalis overnight. I was disappointed at missing…

Yesterday we got started on our new chicken coop! Well, my husband did that is. 🙂 We have 14 baby chickens right now waiting on that new house. Some are in our shed and the others are in a mini-coop outside. Our butterflies also appeared this week, but unfortunately all of them did it when no one was watching. The last two made their appearance during the night it seems. We already released the first three. If you would like to hear more about our caterpillar experience you can view…

Watching Our Caterpillars Transform Into Chrysalis

Watching Our Caterpillars Transform Into Chrysalis

It may be no surprise to my readers that we added a few more “pets” to our current animal collection. Although, these pets are rather the temporary sort. I finally made good on my desire to purchase a caterpillar kit this year for our family. If your children are into creepy crawlies, or fascinated by how stuff works they would enjoy this experience as well. *This post contains affiliate links/ads so I may receive compensation if you choose to click on them and make a purchase.
