Family Joy Blog Link-up Party #28

Family Joy Blog Link-up Party #28

I hope everyone is ready for link-up party time again! Our family just returned from a weeks’ vacation on the Outer Banks. We had lovely weather almost the entire time. My children loved the beach, particularly the older two, and would’ve liked to stay longer. I hope many of you have the opportunity to take a vacation with your family as well this summer. The reminders that school-time is approaching all too soon, have started.  So I want you to share what your family has been up to this summer! …

Garden Fresh Stir-fry

Garden Fresh Stir-fry

I put this stir-fry recipe together while in the midst of preparing for a weeks’ vacation.  It reminds me of the quote from Greek philosopher Plato, “Necessity is the mother of invention.”  Sometimes delicious recipes are concocted with the ingredients on hand. Garden Fresh Stir-Fry came into being this way, and my husband voted it quite tasty. My garden is starting to burst with produce, and I had some zucchini and tomatoes I wanted to use before we left for a week. I also had some shredded chicken breast leftover…

Family Joy Blog Link-up #27

It’s link-up time again! Glad to have you joining us whether it’s your first time or you are returning. Feel free to share about the link-up with your friends. Remember that it’s geared toward family-friendly posts. As for myself, I am off enjoying family vacation at the beach. We didn’t take any vacation at all last year, and everyone has been excited for this trip. Maybe I’ll get some fresh blog post ideas!

Canning Green Beans

Canning Green Beans

This is the time of year that gardeners become super busy trying to preserve the abundance that a well-kept garden yields. Green beans are one of these produce items that I like to preserve for the rest of the year for my family.  I have found green beans from my garden superior to most purchased at the grocery store. In fact, it was just in the past year that I found some frozen green beans that were actually good. *This post contains affiliate links.  I may receive compensation if you choose…

Chicken Coop Video Tour

Chicken Coop Video Tour

Last week I shared how our DIY chicken coop was built. My husband did a fabulous job on it. When the project was still in the discussion phase, I made a stipulation that, “it had to be a cute chicken house!” I think he met my mandate pretty well on that point! In fact, I have a little video walk-through that shows what a great little piece of architecture he built. I think it helps you visualize the coop design much better than just pictures.

Make Ahead Breakfast Ideas

Make Ahead Breakfast Ideas

I am not a morning person. Getting up early to make a wonderful breakfast every day is not my thing. But neither do I want to feed my kids cold cereal daily for breakfast. I can imagine that this is true for other parents, especially those that have a job to go to as well.  That’s why I am going to share a collection of recipes that are fairly healthy options and can be made ahead if you prefer to. I did not create these breakfast recipes, but I have personally cooked every…

Our DIY Chicken Coop

Our DIY Chicken Coop

Today I have a guest post from my husband Wade. He is great at constructing and bringing to life ideas that I have. Since he was the builder of this project, I asked him to write about how he built this awesome and adorable chicken coop for me!    Planning Phase The initial planning phase of our chicken coop began with determining how many chickens we wanted. We thought 6-8 chickens would be a good number for starting out, and researched what size coop we would need to house and…

Lasagna to Share

Lasagna to Share

A Pan to Eat and a Pan to Share This weekend I was signed up at church to bring a new baby meal to a mom. It’s something fabulous our church does. I mean what woman would not appreciate having meals supplied several times weekly during the first few weeks she’s recuperating from giving birth? I know I did. Since this was baby #5 for their family, I thought lasagna would be a nice main dish. It makes plenty and is relatively easy to make. I have been making lasagna from…
